I feel like sometimes I forget in the midst of the whirlwind the power we have in the secret place. We are told that when we pray, go to our room and shut the door to talk to our Father who hears us in secret but rewards us openly (Mat. 6:6).
As Believers in Jesus, we are part of His eternal reward, His Bride. As His Bride, we have access to the secret place. It is the place that is intimate, it is quiet, it is sheltered, it is the place He connects with His best friends.
My husband is my best friend. He is so delightfully different than me that I am constantly entertained and intrigued as well as annoyed until I remember he has to put up with me, too!!! Some of my favorite moments are when we go on long walks and talk about life. I so enjoy getting to hear his thoughts, his perspectives, his processing through some of the crazy topics that I wonder about. As his bride, I get to hear some of his most intimate thoughts.
Last year I did some deep studying on the topic of Courts of Heaven. Someday I may write about what I learned but one thing that really stood out to me was the voices that get justice in the face of the Accuser. One voice is the Bride’s voice. Hebrews 12:22-24 talks about the nine voices in the courtroom of heaven. The “city of the living God, Heavenly Jerusalem” is actually the wife of the Lamb as mentioned in Revelation 21:9-10. The Bride is not simply the lover of the Lord, but rather a governmental entity that brings Heaven to Earth. Song of Solomon 4:9 shows the passion in the heart of Jesus for His Bride. When we worship, He becomes ravished and greatly moved. I think we can ask Him for great things in these tender moments because we have so connected with His heart that even what we wish for we are granted just because of the depth of His love.
When we have spent quality time in the secret place, reading the love letter from our King, talking to Him about our life, and listening to His perspective, I think we are privileged to eternal secrets. We get to hear the heart of the King. When we ask Him about what He is thinking or His concerns or what is important to Him, He answers.
In the craziness of our world and the pause button that has been pushed on the hectic pace of our lives, now more than ever it imperative to spend time in our secret place to get the King’s perspective. When we get perspective from Him and not from social media or the news, we have the authority to speak on behalf of the King.
How can be we salt in these trying times? Are our words bringing preservation? Are our words creating a longing for more of His peace?
- Our hope is in Jesus and His name and the covenant created by His blood on the cross, not in toilet paper or medications.
- Fear responses block off rational processing. Now more than ever we get to have compassion for those whose unprocessed trauma has cause them to be irrational.
How can we be light? Light exists and brightens the darkness.
- Light does not scorch or burn with its existence. It doesn’t criticize the darkness. It just says, “Here let me help you see another way.”
- By light being light, its very presence is calming.
I am reminded of that story in the Bible of Jehu (2 King 9:1-2). He had returned from battle and was hanging with his friends when the messenger came. He was asked to separate and go to a secret place to hear what the prophet had to say.
In the secret place, we get to know the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation. In the secret place we get to hear the voice of the Spirit of Counsel and Might.
Even those seemingly mundane moments of togetherness, like in marriage, builds rapport that with confidence you can speak on His behalf because You know Him.
Beloved Bride of Christ, may you embrace the power of the secret place
and pull away to meet with Him.
He is waiting to hear your voice.
He is longing to see your face.
He wants to find rest in your love.
