Yikes! Nobody likes a surprise quiz or test. Especially if failing it means you don’t get to move on.
Did you know officers in the military are prepared for their positions of leadership by surprise tests in the middle of the night? More responsibility, greater authority, means being able to function with competence under stress.
Daily we encounter little “pop” quizzes from the King. He sets us up to test our character. He is checking if we are ready for our next level. He is giving us practice tests.
Remember that thing that someone said that made you so mad because it hurt your feelings? God was giving you an opportunity to practice FORGIVENESS because He wants you to LOVE like He does… even your enemies.
Remember the day that you felt invisible and overlooked? God was giving you an opportunity to practice HUMILITY.
Remember the day you offered to pray for someone because you felt led by the Spirit to do so and they snickered or refused? God was checking your OBEDIENCE. It wasn’t about them but about you.
Remember the day you overheard someone using God’s name in vain and it made you sick and you confronted them? God was delighted with your BOLDNESS.
And all those times you could and nobody would ever know, but you chose not to, God was polishing the breastplate of your RIGHTEOUSNESS.
What about all the times during the day that you have to acknowledge the reality of “unanswered” prayer? God is testing your faith by giving you yet another chance to TRUST.
When you pass the character tests, you release God to promote you to eternal destiny. Just like you may not know when the “pop” tests are going to show up, you don’t know when you get to graduate.
So, how do prepare for “pop” character quizzes? Daily focusing on THE ANSWER through prayer and spending time with the TEXT puts the principles of TRUTH so deep inside that when tests come the “A+” responses are automatic because they have been drilled into your spirit.
